SR&ED - EXAMINATION

Vision

TNOU strives to have a transformative educational experience for learners through a progressive evaluation pattern, systematically carried out through the latest technological application to equip them to qualify for societal and global expectations.

Mission

To achieve Outcome Based Evaluation (OBE) in all examinations.
To effectively implement comprehensive automotive system in all the examination processes.
To concentrate on transparency in evaluation, and release the examination results expeditiously.

Function

To ensure running of existing academic Programmes as per the University calendar through student registration.
To ensure monitoring of proposals for launching new Programmes by coordinating through various sections of the University.
To ensure the conduct of term-end examinations as per the schedule, coordinate all the activities pertaining to continuous evaluation through assignment evaluation.
To ensure certification of the successful students performance through arranging award of Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates.

Examinations

The examinations are conducted for non semester programmes after completion of one year duration and for semester programmes twice in a year for UG and PG Programmes.
The examination applications will be dispatched to the students in the month of April and October every year.
The students are required to remit their examination fees in order to register their names for the particular examination.
The examination is scheduled to commence in the month of June and December for Academic and Calendar year students consecutively.

Evaluation Pattern

The main objective of Evaluation is to assess the knowledge gained by the students and motivate them to improve upon it and building confidence among the students about the assessment system. A strict and flawless examination system, maintaining uniformity and consistency in assessment are the backbone of any evaluation system.
The examination wing is handled by the persons with appropriate qualifications and qualities such as self discipline, accuracy, confidentiality, time consciousness, high degree of integrity in fulfilling the objectives of the system and complete understanding of their duties and responsibilities to achieve the targets.
The Controller of Examinations shall monitor over all functioning of the examinations wing and evaluation process. The office of the Controller of Examinations is mainly responsible for the conduct of the Examinations both theory and Practical from time to time.
Tamil Nadu Open University conducts VARIOUS Examinations from time to time as per the regulations of the various academic bodies.
In each session students will be appearing for the Examinations. The evaluation is done centrally at the University Headquarters. The answer scripts received from various Examination centers are processed only at the Headquarters.
The whole Examination process is automated and will facilitate to ensure quick and accurate results. There is no manual intervention anywhere and complete confidentiality is maintained as the TNOU adopts the three part OMR technology with barcode.
