With the view of creating electoral awareness among the students and communities, Tamil Nadu Open University has constituted an Electoral Awareness Cell – EAC (2021)
As per the NAAC recommendations, the committee changed from the Electoral Awareness Cell (EAC) into Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) for the enhanced working on the same (2022)
The objective of the committee is to organize various programmes and initiatives to enhance participation of the students in electoral process and to create the significance of voting among the public.
An Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage students through interesting activities and hands-on experience to sensitise them on their electoral rights and familiarise them with the electoral process of registration and voting.

25.02.2021: An Invited Lecture Programme on National Voter’s Day is organised in Post Graduate Department of History in VSS Government Arts & Science College in Pulankurichi at Sivagangai District on “Democracy Value and Current Political Scenario”. Dr. R. Arumugam, Director (i/c), SOPPA and Convenor, Electoral Awareness Cell (EAC), TNOU, was participated and delivered the Key note Address on “Democracy value and current political Scenario” and Dr. P. Muthusamy principle of the college and other faculty members were participated
31.03.2021: Organized an Online Quiz Program on Voters awareness quiz for the Students of TNOU and Various Institutions on 31.03.2021.

Constitution Day, in pursuance of the 75 years India's Independence, Tamil Nadu Open University celebrated the National Constitution Day on 26th November 2021 at 11.00 a.m. by witnessing the meeting held at the central hall of parliament in the presence of our honourable President, Vice - President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Lok Sabha. The session was followed by the Pledge taking at 12.20 p.m. in the Thiruvalluvar Mini Auditorium by the Faculties, Scholars, Students and Non-teaching staffs.
