Centre for Electronic Media Production and Research (CEMPR)

The Centre for Electronic Media Production and Research (CEMPR) is dedicated to harness the information and communication technologies for furthering the cause of higher education. The objective of the Centre is to produce high-quality audio/visual programmes and developing multimedia content. In addition to this, the Centre also engages in conducting lectures through video conferencing on education-related topics fulfilling the motto of the University, 'Reaching the Unreached'.

Vision

The Vision of the Centre is to take the lecture mode (SLM) of ODL to the next stage, the mechanism of existing content delivery will be implemented and integrated with ICT tool.

Mission

The mission of the centre is to electronically reach out to a large number of students and general public with quality ICT course content, so as to address the issue of knowledge sharing from teachers to students in ODL will be diminished.

Production at CEMPR

The production of Videos for Chemmozhi Project is under progress. There are recording of video lectures of Academic Staffs are done for the purpose of converting the existing Self Learning material (SLM) to video lessons.

Video Conferencing and Smart Classroom

A video conference is a live, visual connection between two or more people residing in separate locations for the purpose of communication. At its simplest, video conferencing provides transmission of static images and text between two locations

In Tamil Nadu Open Univerisity the Video Conferncing Facility is installed at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Dharmapuri and Trichy. This facility enables students to get an opportunity to interact with their subject expert. This facility is currently available with five zonal centres and the establishment of this facility to other zonal centers will be done in the near future.
