Established in 2003, the School of Humanities is one of the oldest Schools of Studies in the University. It obtained the assent of the Hon'ble Governor-Chancellor in 2005.
The School was initially visualized as comprising the Departments of English, Tamil, Other Indian/Foreign Languages and Media Studies. Later, the disciplines of History, Tourism Studies and Criminology were added. Over a period of time, four Schools, i.e., School of Tamil and Cultural Studies, School of Journalism and New Media Studies, School of Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration and School of History and Tourism Studies were carved out this School.
At present, the School consists of the Departments of English, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Telugu and Urdu. While the Department of English offers various Programmes from Certificate to Research degree level, the rest of the Departments run Part-I Language Courses.
To be a renowned hub for socially relevant curricula in humanities, promoting interdisciplinary, multi-level research, for the creation of human capital and its continuous improvement.
